As a Terp parent or family member, you can make a difference in the student experience by supporting programs and scholarships that will make the University of Maryland a memorable and significant part of students’ lives. Take a moment to learn about the different ways that you can have an influence on our campus and make a lasting impact at Maryland.
Terp Family Fund
The Terp Family Fund provides the Division of Student Affairs with valuable resources to support innovative programs and services that promote student learning, engagement, and success. The Terp Family Fund is the annual drive for unrestricted gifts from parents and family members that supports the University’s top priority: our students.
Gifts to the Terp Family Fund go to work immediately and support programs and activities not covered by tuition and fees—experiences that transform students and prepare them for a lifetime of success. In the past, funds have been used for
- Health and wellness programming
- Academic support/tutoring
- Career development
- Unpaid internship scholarships
- Alcohol-free, on-campus weekend programs
- Student leadership development
- Alternative Breaks/Service-Learning opportunities
- Parent and family resources
We hope you will support the Terp Family Fund with a gift when a student calls you during the academic year or by giving online today.
Terp Family Student Scholarship Fund
This special fund provides need-based scholarships of up to $2,000 per academic year to students who may be unable to continue their education at the university due to extenuating financial circumstances. Since 2006, more than 200 students have been awarded a scholarship from the Terp Family Student Scholarship Fund, enabling them to continue their education at (and graduate from) the university. With your help, we can reach even more students who may have to leave UMD unless they receive assistance.
Terp parents and families play a significant role in strengthening our community, and we hope that today you will make a generous gift to the Terp Family Fund or the Terp Family Student Scholarship Fund. Your gift reaffirms your belief in the Maryland experience and demonstrates your commitment to all of the things that make the University of Maryland extraordinary.
Gifts in support of the University of Maryland are accepted and managed by the University of Maryland College Park Foundation Inc., an affiliated 501 c(3) organization authorized by the Board of Regents. Gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor.
