Are you looking for a way to be involved as a parent and contribute to the University of Maryland community? The Parent Advisory Council may be the answer!
The Office of Parent and Family Affairs seeks parents with energy and enthusiasm who are willing to serve as ambassadors for the University among other parents and family members. The Parent Advisory Council directs the Maryland Parents Association and is made up of parents of current undergraduate students. This group of parent volunteers meets four times throughout each year year to talk about important issues affecting students, to learn more about happenings at the University, to provide feedback to Parent and Family Affairs on issues of particular importance to parents, and to help plan programs to involve other Terp parents and families.
Our goal is to ensure that members of the Parent Advisory Council are representative of each class year (e.g., Class of 2011) as well as a variety of students' academic programs/areas of study. It is our hope that we can also appoint parents to the Council who reflect the diversity of the University of Maryland community. Serving on the Parent Advisory Council involves a two-year commitment and members are appointed by the Director of Parent and Family Affairs.
