The Parents as Partners Campaign provides parents, family members and friends with an important opportunity to influence their student's success at the University. By making a gift to this initiative, parents and families enable the Office of Parent and Family Affairs and the Maryland Parents Association to continue efforts aimed at improving the quality of their student's undergraduate experience.
Contributions to the Parents as Partners Campaign help sustain programs sponsored by the Office of Parent and Family Affairs and directly support initiatives of the Maryland Parents Association. Support from parents provided 22 students over the past four years with scholarships that enabled them to continue their education at (and graduate from) the university. Contributions from parents also provided funding for additional tutors in the Math Success Program, helped institute the AlcoholEdu Program, enabled the creation of the Office of Student Conduct's Integrity, Character and Ethics (ICE) Campaign, helped establish a special service-learning opportunity through the Office of Leadership & Community Service-Learning, and much more.
The Parents as Partners Campaign encourages gift-giving as a way for parents to express satisfaction with the undergraduate experience of their sons and daughters. Certainly, every Terp parent has made a significant financial investment in their student's education at the University of Maryland. However, tuition and state funding account for half of the university's operating expenses. The initiatives supported by the Parents as Partners Campaign provide resources for programs that are not currently funded by state assistance, tuition or fees.
You can demonstrate your support today by making a contribution to any of the Parents as Partners Campaign initiatives outlined below.
Parents Association Initiatives Fund
Gifts to the Initiatives Fund make a wide range of experiences possible for UM students, including tutoring services, wellness resources, peer education and leadership development programs, alcohol education, and other programs within the Division of Student Affairs designed to enhance the student experience at the university. This fund also helps to sustain valuable programs and resources provided to parents and family members by the Office of Parent and Family Affairs.
Maryland Parents Association Scholarship Fund
This special fund provides need-based scholarships of up to $1,000 per academic year to students who may be unable to continue their education at the university due to extenuating financial circumstances.
Garden of Reflection and Remembrance
This "caretaking" place is designed to nurture the campus community by providing spaces for thoughtful relaxation including a contemplative labyrinth, a winding path through several unique garden rooms, and ephemeral fountains tucked under a preserved canopy of trees. The association?s support of the Garden is a wonderful and indelible reminder of the pivotal role that parents play in the UM community.
Please consider a gift of $25 to the campaign. You can make a gift today by clicking on the "Give Now" button located next to the initiative of your choice.
