Terrapin Pride Day
This annual event provides members of the University of Maryland family with the opportunity to visit Annapolis to meet state legislators to stress the value of our great University and the impact it is having on our state's economy and its future. Hundreds of University of Maryland students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni join forces each year to ensure that access to quality higher education, especially at the State's Flagship University, be funded at appropriate levels.
Over the last two years, University of Maryland supporters have not only persuaded the Governor and legislators to halt drastic budget cuts, they have also prompted State officials to begin reinvesting funds in higher education this year. University of Maryland supporters have also successfully advocated for our capital budget priorities. In fact, the University has seen its two highest capital priorities funded. Thanks to your support, our new Biosciences Research Building and the renovation of the Tawes Fine Arts Building are well on their way.
If you live in Maryland, we call on you to thank your state legislators for their support of this great University and urge them to fully fund the Governor's higher education proposed increase. Together, we will continue to make higher education in Maryland a priority.
